Hardscape includes all the non-living elements of your garden, including features such as retaining walls, fences, paths and gates. Hardscape pieces are key to more structured landscape designs. If you are new to fairy gardening, keep it simple. Stepping stones are a great choice. If you enjoy a challenge, incorporate retention walls, pavers or patios to totally level up your fairy garden game!
This category is where we tend to find the difference between “fairy gardeners” and “miniature gardeners”. Miniature garden design places emphasis on scale and recreating complex landscape in miniature. In contrast, fairy garden design is free form, abandoning scale and embracing the whimsical. However, it’s cool to think of it as a sliding scale rather than a firm rule.
It is important for me to note here that our products are here to compliment (not replace) things that you make yourself. My passion lies in the magic of fairy gardening and hardscape is an area that I really encourage you to get creative with. We have some really lovely pieces here to get you started. I hope they inspire you to get crafty. Collect pretty rocks, seashells, crystals – grab some polymer or airdrying clay from the craft store – fire up the hot glue gun!
